Russians in Czech Cultural History at the Turn of the 19th and 20th Century. Perception of the Russian Phenomenon in South Bohemia - Study Contribution
The diploma thesis deals with the perception of Russia in the Czech cultural environment between 1860s and World War I. It is divided into two sections. The first section monitors changes in the Russophile orientation in the Czech Republic and reception of Russian literature by Czechs. The second section focuses on South Bohemia and describes three possible approaches to Russia in three South Bohemian towns: works of translators Hynek Jaroslav Mejsanar and Josef Penek from Tbor, activities of the Russian Circle in Jindichv Hradec (1901 - 1915) and articles involving Russia in the Psek's magazine Otavan during the its later period of existence (1879 - 1913).
