The city of České Budějovice is the economic and cultural centre of the South Bohemia region. It was founded by the King Přemysl Otakar II, strategically located at the confluence of the Vltava and Malše rivers. The German and Austrian borders are nearby. The city is famous for its hectare-sized Main Square, with its burgher houses, baroque town hall and Samson fountain as well as for its Budvar brewery the authentic Budweiser beer.
Its academic programs BSc., MSc. and PhD. include educational, scientific, research, artistic and other creative pursuits. There are developed in wide variety of study programs in Humanities, Natural Sciences, Pedagogy, Economics, Agriculture, Theology and Social and Health Studies.
